HELPING PEOPLE FIND THEIR WAY BACK TO GOD
We’ve seen the transformation hundreds of times – people who came to us full of doubt and uncertainty become secure in the knowledge of their rightful place in God’s great kingdom. The change may start slowly – in a Bible Study class or choir participation, perhaps – but once it begins, it picks up speed. The good works, shared experiences, time spent in prayer – all bring us closer to our highest calling.
Take the first step toward personal renewal – join us for services this weekend!
What A Blessing! The flute/organ concert on Sunday afternoon, March 19, was truly a blessing — and our church continues to be blessed with Ellie Sutphin and Charles Dirr’s music! Through concerts, flute, piano, organ and handbells — Ellie and Charles give of themselves and their talents so generously. Thank you, both!
Last week the Children’s Choir added to our Sunday worship. They will be singing on Palm Sunday (April 9) — and playing chimes. No more “JAM” until the Fall. It has been a good year — the children have learned a lot and seemed to enjoy being a part of the worship service.
The music department has had a lot of sickness, surgeries and one death, Mikell Cribbs. Berkely and Peggy Latimer have not come yet this year. We miss them and hope they’ll come on Easter. However — the remainder of us are active and faithful, truly devoted to the church and the music in the church. I am so grateful for their commitment!
The Handbell Choir has had its share of upsets as well: Arah Show dropped out due to other commitments and of course, Roberta Mann is out temporarily. Nicole Jiskoot and Sarah Bennett will be “filling in” these places. It’s very difficult to even practice with people “out.” We plan to play on Easter Sunday. Nicole is the daughter of Jill & Edward Maassen and played bells in our church since she was in Junior High and Sarah is the daughter of Johnny & Sue Maassen. She sang with us in our Christmas program and has a beautiful soprano voice which you heard singing the solo on one of the anthems. They are both answer to prayers!
Below are two pictures taken at the Joey Raney Workshop in Bradenton last month.
~ A Franciscan Blessing ~
May God bless you with a restless discomfort about easy answers, half-truths, and superficial relationships, so that you may seek truth boldly & love deep within your heart. May God bless you with holy anger at injustice, oppression, and exploitation of people, so that you may tirelessly work for justice, freedom, and peace among all people. May God bless you with the gift of tears to shed for those who suffer from pain, rejection, starvation, or the loss of all that they cherish, so that you may reach out your hand to comfort them and transform their pain into joy. May God bless you with enough foolishness to believe that you really can make a difference in this world, so that you are able, with God’s grace, to do.
